Mold Assessment

  • Select a professional remediation company-one that has experience and is fully trained and licensed- to begin work as quickly as possible.
  • Assess the extent of the moisture problem and damaged materials to be removed based on the inspection and mold test results. Consider the possibility of hidden mold, additional damaged materials and its impact on remediation completion and price.
  • Create a plan to repair or replace the cause of the “water event”. This is priority.
  • Plan to dry the wet, non-moldy materials within 48 hours to prevent mold growth on those items.
  • Occupants should be educated about the full remediation process that will be used for this specific situation. Make all parties involved aware that hidden mold and additional damaged materials could be found after the remediation is in progress. This will have to be addressed at that time-immediately-and the cost of the remediation could change.
  • After remediators have established containment area and set up a Hepa filter fan or air scrubber to clean the air, the removal of materials, scrubbing, and HVAC system treatment should be completed.
  • If needed, install a commercial grade dehumidifier auto-draining to avoid future high-humidity problem.
  • Plan post-test within 24 hours of remediation to prove success.

Mold Containment

Picture8

After a thorough assessment, a professional mold remediator will set up the “containment” area. This will help prevent spreading mold spores throughout the home during the treatment.

Mold Remediation

  • Containment established and air-scrubber or negative air machine has been operating in area.
  • Proper personal protective equipment and respirator must be worn.
  • Appropriate product and cleaning method within contaminated area.
  • Posttest within 24hrs.
